Sharon Segner

Senior Vice President, Development, LS Power

Sharon Segner joined LS Power in 2009 and currently serves as a senior vice president of transmission policy.

Sharon has executed the company’s national strategies related to introducing competition into the transmission sector of the energy industry. Specifically, she leads the company’s national and state efforts related to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s (FERC) competitive transmission policy.

Prior to her tenure at LS Power, Sharon developed two large natural gas projects for Competitive Power Ventures in Washington, D.C. and was the lead developer at the 650-megawatt Otay Mesa natural gas plant for PG&E National Energy Group in San Diego County, California.

Earlier in her career, Sharon served as the principal advisor to the Chairman of the United States Senate Energy Subcommittee during the passage of the Energy Policy Act of 2005. She later served in the Executive Office of the President’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) focused on energy issues and policy.

Sharon received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Business Administration degree from Rice University.
