LS Power Grid California
LS Power Grid California is an electric transmission utility in the state of California that provides reliability and resiliency for the electric grid and enables the flow of energy from efficient and diverse generation resources.
Our transmission facilities enhance bulk power transfer capabilities within California, providing CAISO with important assets to reliably serve electricity customers. They also enable CAISO grid operators to economically optimize electricity flow from lower-cost regions to higher-cost regions, thereby reducing consumer costs.
History
2020
In 2020, LS Power Grid California was selected by CAISO through a competitive solicitation to build two power infrastructure projects in California.
2023
In 2023, LS Power Grid California was selected by CAISO through a competitive solicitation to build four additional power infrastructure projects in California.
2025
In 2025, LS Power Grid California’s first asset, the Orchard Substation, was placed in service. Orchard bolsters grid reliability in the San Joaquin Valley.
2028
By 2028, LS Power Grid California will place five more projects awarded to the utility in service, providing an expansion of the state’s energy grid and further bolstering reliability and resiliency.
