Republic Transmission
Republic Transmission is an electric transmission utility in Indiana with a mission to ensure reliable and cost-effective electric transmission in the Midcontinent ISO (MISO) region.
Republic Transmission strengthens the MISO region’s transmission backbone, lowering electricity costs, and enabling the flow of diverse generation resources.
History
2016
In 2016, Republic Transmission was selected through a competitive solicitation to develop a high-voltage transmission line from Dubois County, Indiana, to Hancock County, Kentucky.
2020
In 2020, Republic Transmission was placed in service, connecting the Duff Substation in southern Indiana to the Coleman Substation in western Kentucky. Republic Transmission is co-owned by LS Power and Hoosier Energy. Approximately 3 miles of the transmission line is in Kentucky and is owned by Big Rivers Electric Cooperative.
2023
In 2023, Republic Transmission was selected by MISO to build the Indiana portion of the Hiple-Helix transmission line.
2025
In 2025, Republic Transmission was selected by MISO to build the RIKY Project in Kentucky and Indiana.
